For the Love of Music: Concrete Dreams by Tristan Clopet Versus Superficiality is a Sin by Tristan & the Juice

I am happy to share a new talent, Tristan Clopet, with my dear friends. He has the rock, soul and funk combination that I crave in his new album Duende EP by Tristan & the Juice. This is date night groove music at it's finest. He sounds a bit like the Red Hot Chili Peppers (from the OC), Blood, Sweat & Tears and Jeff Buckley. I find it refreshing. I've been into Coldplay, Nina Simone and Toole lately , so this is a nice cold drink of water for me. I hope you enjoy and see Tristan & the Juice are upcoming talents with lots of soul, rock and funk. We all need a bit of funk in our lives during these funky times and Tristan delivers. This is my first Mother's Day while blogging. So, I wanted to post a special one for my Momma. Happy Mother's Day to you dear souls that are reading this. I thought I should include a little description so you can see who our little family includes.

It's A Chair Thing

Check out this outrageous chair and bench collection from Jimmie Martin LTD. I found these on The Urban Lifestyle Decor blog. Glam and grunge put together. A masterpiece.

I saw these chairs and thought to myself, if this is what I can find while blogging then I am IN! So, I have patiently waited until I was feeling a little chair fetish. Now is the time to reveal these beauties. This crow chair is out of this world. I want it in mine!

And, for you dog lovers. Isn't this amazing!

Who would have thought to have a recipe on a chair?

Graffiti on a bench. I would love this for a piano bench to go with our black piano and leopard carpet in the music room. Hint... hint... my darling.

I could see a powerhouse gal like Drew Barrymore, Demi Moore or Madonna sporting this chair in her office. Or, in a ultra chic and modern space and this piece sitting as a piece of art to make you smile. What a fun piece to just giggle every time you looked upon it.

Simple compared to the rest this beauty is still over the top, but classic. This chair has inspired me to paint my plain black leather chair just like this one with something really wild. I haven't decided what exactly to paint yet. If you creative genius's out there have any suggestions, I am open!

So, someone other than me has a twisted sense of humor.

Happy Mother's Day, birthday and Christmas to me! My hubby gave me this chair of my dreams from Ron Soares formally the proprietor of San Clemente Antiques. Ron teased us by having us keep this chair for him for a few months while he settled into his new home. Well, we obviously feel in love with the carved wood and it's unique shape during that time. The back of the 1800's chair is carved from one piece of gorgeous dark wood and has the original gold oriental silk uphostery. Since I love old fabrics, can not change it until it is shredding. And, when we saw the exact chair it in the picture above in Gloria Vanderbilt's home where she has recreated her room when she was 16 years old. We had to have it. Ok, I had to have it. Then, the talking my hubby into it began.

On the more conservative and Parisian side of things, this gorgeous canvas/burlap upholstered chair can be found at The Paris Hotel Boutique. I can see this just about anywhere and with anything. Simple but with an updated twist. Nice. Anywhere. Simple, yet effective.

Rendez-Vous Van Paris Burlesque Party-Chacha Club

This hollywood and glamour inspired Parisian Burlesque video was found at the lovely Chole' Van Paris's site. Chole is the amagingly talented gal that created the video and is also a D.J. for the show. Chloe used old school glam music for her video.

I am also sharing since my hairdresser is going to Paris in a few weeks and wanted a peek at this video for a possible birthday celebration. Oh, I am jealous!

For you gals that read French, Chloe describes the event as "Chloe' Van Paris vous convie le merciedi 6 Mia Au Chacha Club a la 'eme edition de la burlesque party, nouveau rendez-vous des nuits parasiennes." The Chacha Club in Paris is the venue.

I hope you enjoy seeing an amazing display of glamour , even if you are hanging around in your sweats like I am today.

Southern lullaby written by unknown. Am I the only one, what is up with the tragedy in our lullabies? But, I love the persistence of it all. If this horrible thing happens to your most precious thing, well then we will just do this. And quite matter of fact. I wonder if this is a Southern thing? My Mother and I were brought up the same way. Never stop and don't look back. But, surely this isn't only a Southern state of mind?




Anyway, it has come the time to sell the crib. You can find at Fabulous Finds & Co. I assume all you ladies understand how difficult this decision is. To have another and not. Oh.. that is THE QUESTION. So, obviously you can see what our decision has become. I think this is a final decision that leaves our hearts a bit sad. Or, at least for me. I think because it seems so final. This is a feeling you can not describe without feeling a bit of a foul. But, you wise women that have gone through this surely understand where I am coming from. So, I had an urge to share the nursery my dear son had a few years back. It was a room done on a tight budget and a room with no great ambiance. Four walls, two windows and a double mirrored closet door. Ugh... But, I tried to make the best of it. This was my first experience with making custom bedding. What a thrill!!! I was so lucky to have a local discount fabric store where I scored all my silks and such. You would have thought I was having a girl... I know... But, my thought was to make it a room that I adored. A sanctuary of sorts. I did know that I would spend many hours with my son, soothing and calming him. This wasn't a room that I had to worry about a TV for my hubby or anything for another human. Just me. A room to soothe my soul as well, while I was caring to my son. Huh... although I had no idea how late and how many! So, this is what I created with my Mom's final approvals. I've always been a bit of a fabric freak. My Mom has quite style, but her heart doesn't skip a beat on a fabric like mine. So, anyway I had a silk bed skirt and cover on the dresser. Cover for the crib with gold feathers that my Mom picked up for more glam.


I was so blessed to have Kimberly Booher able to turn a regular ugly bleached changing table and green 60's armore into a work of art. She has been my Mom's assistant for 18 years, more family than anything and is quite the little artist. So, off to the local thrift stores I went and Kimberly was there to turn them into little pieces of art for us.


I am sure that I felt many times like John Galliano when he said "they just don't get me and I don't get them". One of my dear friends told me my son would surely choke on the netting. But, I kept the vision. He has obviously survived. It was a special place for both of us and I am sure my husband enjoyed it as well. So, I thought on this day I should share this very special and private place with my favorite friends.

I think I'll take the red salsa gown and learn how to salsa quick. But, I think in that gown my hubby wouldn't be watching my dance steps too closely. So, I'd get a bonus date night out of it. Would that make it an investment piece? I think so. Two for one. Let's see what he says.
