As I look forward to seeing the red carpet and acceptance speeches at the Oscar's this evening, what better time to look back at the fashion's that have come before.
A '30s fashion moment for Helen Hayes, Best Actress winner for The Sin of Madelon Claudet at the 5th Annual Academy Awards. Hayes' elegant black sleeveless gown was a creation accented with satin gloves and a corsage. The Oscar backdrop was the Ambassador Hotel, just days after the election of FDR.

All these ladies have a few things in common.
Other than the obvious talent these ladies have at their craft,
they all look like movie stars.
What do you think?

Christina such terrific historic Oscar photos. Was Elizabeth Taylor just not a knock-out? I don't care how many times you see her, she takes your breath-away. So excited for tonight, I always hate to miss them.
Enjoy!!
Ooooh how lovely post, Honey!

Bonjour Christina,
Fun post - I really like Helen Hayes, I thought she was so beautiful when she was in her 80s. No surgery and every wrinkle made her look even lovlier.
Of course Elizabeth Taylor was such a beauty!
Enjoy the show!
Okay is it me or does Sophia Loren remind anyone a lil of Eva Mendes? And Goldie Hawn made me think of Nichole Richie for a split sec...
I love your collages and wondering, where you'll find all your pictures.
Your blog is wonderful as usual!
LOL
Agneta, the swedish one ;o)
