Miss Manners

I was noted as having "nice manners" yesterday and the sweet sales lady asked me "Where did you get your manners?"
I almost had to chuckle and said "Why, my Mother. And, I am working on my son to do the same." (Thank you to my parents!)
I was brought up to be thankful and gracious in all the small things people do for me everyday. When you go through a day, many people actually push you along the way. I choose to thank them or at least give them a smile.
And, this comment from the sales lady got me thinking.
Is having manners so distinct from the masses that it stands out as a dying breed?
Do people not say please and thank you anymore?
It concerns me that this may be the case.
What do you think?
xo,
Christina

  1. I think its more few & far between that you see people with manners this days. It's unfortunate but its true. I used to work sales & when people would say please & thank you it would make my job day a lil better. I always try to say please, thank you, & hold the door open for people. One act of kindness may make someone do the same. Manners need to be remembered. =)

  3. I'm quite baffled she was surprised that you were well-mannered! Rude manners irk me more than anything, I find it so childish and immature!

  6. Ah, manners, the dying art of civility. It used to be that bad manners were noticed & commented upon, now those with good manners stand out from the crowd. Such a shame. My grandmother would be horrified at the public behavior of the masses.
I think one of the most important jobs a parent is entrusted with is to teach good manners to their progeny. It's quite obvious somewhere along the line a generation of parents shirked this responsibility & now we see the sad aftermath. I will never give up on doing the work & training involved to turn my daughter into a well~mannered lady.

Oh... please tell me what is on your mind! Don't be shy, my pretties. Merci!!

Please, let's all be nice and mind our manners. Constructive criticism is appreciated and is always taken best when started with something nice. If it is not constructive, it will not be posted. We all have feelings, darlings. Now type away... I love to hear from you.
